Great Spaces—ING Calgary Cafe

This week I’m doing a post a day on great gathering places in Calgary. If you’re looking to find a venue where you can gather a group, whether it’s for a meetup, a party, a corporate event, or something else, these are some of the great spaces that Calgary has available.

Media Wall 1Today’s Great Space is ING DIRECT Calgary Café at Sixth Avenue & Fifth Street. “It’s a bank. What makes it so great?” It’s a natural question, and the answer is…how welcoming they are.

I don’t currently bank with ING (though I’ve been meaning to set up with them for a couple of months now…I just happen to be a bit lazy). However, I’ve been to their Calgary Café several times now for different events. You see, they’re not like some stale and utilitarian bank branch. They’re a little bit more like a community space that just happens to offer financial services, and they just happen to be splashed in my favourite colour.

Boardroom 2You are welcome and invited to contact them to use their space or their boardroom for your event. I’m not certain that it will work 100% for something like a wedding reception, but with their attractive space and their equipped boardroom, it will probably work extremely well for a small fundraiser, a meetup group, and even a small class (one of which I attended there from ZEDS Communication). You see, a great space doesn’t have to be in a 100-year-old heritage building, but it does need to be welcoming, flexible, and come complete with great people.

If you want to check it out for yourself, come on down to the Café tomorrow night (Thur, Nov 1) to check out An Ode to the Penny. You’ll have a fully legit reason to come and case the joint, and you can bring down all of your scattered pennies to donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary.

You can contact Jonathan Glover or any of the other really nice people at ING Direct Calgary Café to discuss your needs. E-mail them at calcafe@ingdirect.ca, call them at 403-539-5520, or just drop into the Café at 600 6 Avenue SW.
