This week I’m doing a post a day on great gathering places in Calgary. If you’re looking to find a venue where you can gather a group, whether it’s for a meetup, a party, a corporate event, or something else, these are some of the
great spaces that Calgary has available.
Today’s Great Space is Endeavor Arts Gallery and Event Space. Run by Shannon and Maria Hoover, some of you will know this as the once-upon-a-time nightclub, The Night Gallery.
I have been to Endeavor for a couple of meetups, an art opening or two, and a couple of nights with Awesome Foundation
Calgary. It’s beautiful, chock full of hardwood, wide open, and owned by a couple of pretty fantastic Calgarians. This is a space that works well for groups both large and small.
Capacity of the space is up to 150. It is limited with respect to wet bar and on-site cooking facilities, but your catering staff will be able to figure out what they need to figure out. It’s going to be an ideal space for cocktail receptions, wedding receptions, corporate events, and anything else that calls for one of Calgary’s rare, unique character spaces. And it comes equipped with lovely and engaging art!
Located on the quite recently reinvigorated First Street SW area in Victoria Park, it’s at once both historic and trendy. It’s spitting distance from such modernity as a Starbucks and a 24-hour gym, yet is right next door to the building where, in the 1960s, a young Joni Mitchell first started to cut her performing teeth at a folk club called The Depression. The building itself was built circa 1910 by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. (I bloody LOVE their song, “Desperado”!)
Endeavor Arts Gallery and Event Space is truly unique for Calgary, and you’d be wise to check it out when you’re hunting for the perfect space for your next events.
