Calgary2012 is giving out a whole schwack of money this year for awesome people to do awesome things. One of those awesome things is a three-hour tour (oh good heavens…y’all must be very careful not to get caught in a storm, or your tiny ship will be tossed!) of Calgary’s sandstone schools.

This Calgary Heritage Initiative Society event will explore the fascinating history of the construction, use, and re-use of these unique sandstone schools of Calgary’s inner city. Running on Saturday, November 10, this tour will run from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Tickets are $30 for CHI members, $35 for non-members, and $40 for the tour plus a CHI membership.

The Calgary Heritage Initiative Society is dedicated to the preservation, productive use, and interpretation of buildings and sites of historic and architectural interest in Calgary. They host regular meetings and events, host initiatives to educate and inform Calgary’s citizens, and have an active and interesting message board on their website.
