Two brand new things for Calgary are going on today that you should probably check out.
First, Calgary’s first-ever Maker Faire is on the go down at the East Village Riverwalk. Running until 6:00 pm, Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for kids, students and seniors. You can also get a family pass for $50. Check out a list of all the participating Makers on the Maker Faire website.
Also going today until 9:00 pm is Calgary’s first-ever Saudi Arabian Festival. I can’t speak for everyone in Calgary by any means, but I think it’s safe to say that a good chunk of my circle doesn’t really know much about Saudi Arabia (except the political stuff that makes the news… and OIL!). Throughout the day there will be a variety of traditional performances. I think this should be a fascinating look into what I imagine to be a very unfamiliar nation and culture. Check out a list of the full program at the Saudi Arabian Festival website.
