Who doesn’t like free? I mean, give me a choice between something I need for ten bucks and something I need for free, all other things equal, I’m diggin’ free. Now, if only there was a place to find free stuff that other people don’t want anymore.
Readers, meet Freecycle. I’ve been a Freecycle Calgary member for quite some years now. I don’t often go looking for free stuff, mostly because I have pretty much most stuff I need. But I have found it an excellent way to get rid of things I no longer need, for sure.
Freecycle Calgary has recently moved from a Yahoo Groups group to the actual Freecycle.org website. As of this writing, you can claim, FOR FREE, a couple of wooden doors, a three-seat couch, an electric starter for a briquettes barbeque, a food dehydrator, an office desk, and lots, lots more. Everything listed on the site is available from other users completely free. You can even make requests for items that you want for free. Generally you’ll need to make it to the offeror’s place to pick it up, but other than that, free for the taking. Keep perfectly good items out of the landfill and give them extra life, either by disposing of your unwanteds to those who want, or shopping here before heading out to the mall.
