One secret behind a successful blog is humour. Please don’t ask me what the other secrets are, as nobody has told me them. But this one I was entrusted with.
If you want to be a more successful writer (or tweeter, or whateverer), it is a great strategy to inject more humour into your writing style. But “be funny” is often harder than it sounds. Or, at least, it is often a skill that can be polished in order to really do it well.
Thankfully, there’s a class where you can go to learn to be funnier online communicator. Facilitated by Zoey Duncan and Derek Wilken, you’ll be learning from people who know what they’re doing. Zoey actually gets paid to blog, and Derek is an established comic instructor and comedy writer.
The funny thing about all of this is that it costs only $20 to attend, and the class size is limited to a dozen people. As if that didn’t seem like a good enough deal, the registration fee is donated to CHADD Calgary, so for just one twenty, you get a schooling in the funny, and some sweet, sweet karma. I’ll tell you this, I’ve spent a lot more than twenty bucks and come up karma-negative, so you’re doing pretty good here.
Like I said, there’s only a dozen seats, so if you’re going to register to attend, I think you’d better do it right frigging now. There’s an Eventbrite page where you can pay to play. You’ll get to choose between two upcoming seminar dates (September 29, and then again on the evening of October 9). Read the whole thing, as there’s some stuff there you need to know.
